Let Summer Term Commence
Date: 25th Apr 2025 @ 11:38am
Another term has been and gone and, as we embark on the last term of the school year (and hopefully some warmer weather) we look forward to enjoying more outdoor play and many hours on the new trim trail and our new and improved scooters!
Forgive me if this is a bit of a long one. It's only in looking back over the last few months that I had realised quite how much we had achieved!!! January started in the usual way with lots of new year crafts and resolutions (just don't ask if we kept any of them!!) Sprinklings of snow inspired a selection of winter activities (and the dreaded magic snow) ... and before we knew it we were chomping our way through prawn cracker, fortune cookies and gummy worms in celebration of the Luna new year - the year of the Snake.
A change over in some of our staffing and the occasional school meeting/parents evening have meant that we spent a number of sessions merged over in preschool - huge thanks to children, parents and staff alike for their patience and cooperation.
February brought with yet more celebrations, most notable Valentine's Day. We made gifts and hearts a plenty, finishing the first half term with some scrummy heart lollipops ... although I'm not quite sure how many actually made it home without being 'tested' before being gifted to our loved ones.
After collecting a few weeks worth of junk and boxes we embarked upon a memorable 'scrap heap challenge' night. No-one could have envisaged where it would lead. Boxes and tape developed into boxes with wheels ... seats were added, tools were introduced and, before we knew it, we had a fully working go-kart whizzing it's way round the playground with children lining up to take their turn. The creativity of these children never ceases to amaze me!!!
We continued our love and friendship theme throughout February half term with a bit of help from some 'Inside Out' characters (and a rather substantial puddle!!) ...
...then it was onwards with our Spring activities in the hope that the weather would soon be kind to us.
March, as always, has so many celebrations that we are never quite sure what to celebrate first. Painted daffodils combined our Spring theme with that of St David's day then we were plunged into both Mardi Gras, World book Day and Comic Relief which meant dressing up galore and red noses a plenty. We left it a bit late to get all the usual pancakes and toppings but, nevertheless, made up for it by introducing children to banana splits instead!!!
We also managed to squeeze in some Mother's Day card, cake and gift making ...
With Easter feeling extremely late on this year, we waited as long as we could before bringing out the bunnies and Easter eggs but managed to squeeze in just enough chocolate and Easter nests to keep everyone happy until the end of term.
Another busy and eventful Paddington inspired Easter Holiday Club rounded up the term with children coming together from a number of local schools. Once again new friendships were made and we look forward to welcoming everyone back for the Whit Holidays.
