Welcome Back

Date: 17th Sep 2019 @ 12:16pm

After one of our busiest Summers ever it is great to be able to settle back into our normal term time routine and welcome so many new faces to our breakfast and after school club.  Having only recently merged our infants and juniors it has been a few years since we have had such a busy club so early on in the term but staff and children have embraced the challenge and some of our older children are proving to be excellent 'buddies' to our new starters and have taken the little ones under their wings as they get used to the setting.

Thankfully we have had a number of sunny days which has enabled children to spend a great deal of time outside where they have played on the climbing frames and tried out a selection of new scooters (that have been a great hit with everyone).  We are in the process of saving up for some more outdoor toys which will be chosen by the children - this is their club after all!!

For those opting to stay inside, we have spent the last 2 weeks exploring the vast selection of toys we have built up over the years and are thrilled that we have made enough money from our 'early starters' fund to be able to replace a number of 'well-used' resources such as dolls, mats, magic sand and DVDs as well as adding to our collection of construction and role play toys.

Alongside our free-play opportunities, we have been following a timetable of art and craft activities in keeping with the time of year, special days etc. so it will come as no surprise to hear that most of September has so far touched on the topic 'All about me'.

As well as all of this we have managed to do some baking and painting and have even treated ourselves to a film night (with obligatory popcorn) where children sat down to watch the BFG on Roald Dahl day.  We expect to be enjoying more film nights as the nights start to draw in.

For the little ones amongst us we have been fortunate to have access to the Seedlings preschool room where children are able to continue to learn through play thanks to the age-appropriate toys that are on offer.

Our after school sports clubs have already been hugely successful with 20+ children booked on to football and gymnastics.  Dodgeball is not quite so popular but our after school children have been more than happy to join in and boost the numbers.

Over the coming weeks we will continue to learn more about each other, revisit club rules and explore friendships and British Values before embarking on a heavily Autumnal based October.
