Welcome Back 2017

Date: 8th Sep 2017 @ 1:07pm

Despite it being a busy and hectic first few days, children have settled into breakfast and afterschool club as if they have never been away. Our infant children have welcomed in some new starters and we look forward to welcoming even more over the coming weeks. With Seedlings becoming more and more established we aim for the majority of our preschool children to further utilise the preschool room this year and are very much looking forward to introducing more age appropriate activities to the little one enabling us to assist the preschools in tracking some of the children's early years development.

Over on the juniors we are also looking at developing the service we offer. So far we have obtained a new x-box and have purchased extra knex construction toys which have proved extremely popular with the children. We are looking into getting some more sporting equipment for the indoors (in time for the winter weather) and some beanbags to create a cosy corner etc.

As is always the case when we are getting to know each other, our September theme is 'All about me' and 'British Values'. So far we have drawn portraits of ourselves, made all about me sm’art’ phones, looked at what we like to wear and created our names in mosaic as well as starting to discuss some of clubs rules and boundaries.

Parents and carers will notice that our staff have remained pretty much unchanged. I continue to oversee all of the Woodlands out of school clubs (I'm the one to contact if you have any questions or queries etc.), Claire Keegan is the infant manager and Aaron Rafferty is the manager over on the junior side. Mel is no longer with us but we welcome Natalie (who you will also see around the school) who is working over on the juniors for 3 days a week. We also look forward to working more closely with Emma and Tammy who are our 'neighbours' in the Seedlings.

Most of you should now be aware of the infant sport courses that are running after school. We are running 3 courses this year starting on 18th September – football starts on Monday, multi sports on Tuesday and gymnastics in the infant hall on Wednesday. The courses are primarily for our year 1 and 2 children for the time being with our reception children being invited to join us after Christmas (once they are settled into their new routine).

Looking forward, we are now taking online bookings for half term holiday club. This year’s theme is likely to be ‘Autumn’ where we look forward to exploring all those lovely Autumn colours through a variety of arts and crafts.  If you wish to book onto the October play scheme and sports courses you will need to register your children with our new School iPal system before you can book in.  Follow the link for further details:
