Happy New Year

Date: 20th Jan 2018 @ 8:49am

Happy New Year!! It seems that the excitement of Christmas and New Year is well and truly over but children have, nevertheless, settled straight back into school and club with very little effort and you would think they had never been away. It has been a bit of a settling in period for some of our staff as well having had a bit of a re-shuffle amongst us. Most of you will have probably noticed that Claire is spending a bit more time over on the junior side whilst I am spending more time over on the infants. We both continue to work very closely together so any issues/concerns can be brought to either of us.

Due to the miserable British cold, damp and dreary weather we have been stuck inside for much of the time but it hasn’t stopped us enjoying a number of ‘outdoor’ sporting activities which we have simply brought inside.

The infant and junior children have taken part in a number of new year and winter activities over the last couple of weeks and have produced an array of arts and crafts including hats, calendars, bookmarks, winter hats, bracelets, felt glove keyrings and new year wish wands ...

...(although some of our children found it far more entertaining to decorate Mrs Donoghue than decorate their wands!!)

Our younger children have continued to spend much of breakfast and after school club in the Seedlings room where they are never short of things to do.

We plan to continue with our wintry theme next week before welcoming February with celebrations such as Valentine’s day, Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras and Chinese New Year.

Thinking ahead to February half term, we will be open for the whole week so urge you to book in your children as soon as you can to avoid disappointment and ensure your child has a place with us. Bookings for children in reception – yr 6 will need to book via our online booking system to secure their places (I can’t take any bookings – they MUST be made and paid for online). We are pleased to say that Seedlings preschool will also be running alongside the holiday club this year so there is no need to be sending your little ones off to another setting should you need childcare during the half term week. Bookings are slightly different for preschool and can be made directly with the Seedlings by completing the preschool booking form that can be found on the website.

Our overall holiday club theme this year will be based on the PyeongChang Winter Olympics so activities will be a mixture of Sport, Snow and South Korea!!

Some of you will already be familiar with our online booking system having booked your children in for sport or holiday club sessions. We are hoping to be online for breakfast and after school club from April so I would urge you to register your child/ren asap and familiarise yourself with the system. I believe it can be a little confusing if it is unfamiliar to you but quite simple once you know how and is proving extremely successful in the settings where it is currently in use. When you do register your child/ren the secret is to enter ALL details including class number – if you don’t you will find that you can’t complete and pay for your bookings when you get to the end. Detailed  instructions are on the website and staff will help you as much as they can.
