7th - 11th March 2016

Date: 11th Mar 2016 @ 1:08pm

As well as joining in with a number of Spring-based activities (including entering the school Easter egg colouring competition) we've made the most of the Spring sunshine and ever increasing amount of daylight this week by spending much of after school club playing outside and flying an array of handmade kites - (leaving both children and staff inside and out feeling somewhat refreshed as the temperatures rapidly drop towards the end of the day!)  Luckily we have access to the computer and pre-school rooms to warm ourselves up after snack!!

A HUGE thank you to all of you that have so kindly donated unwanted toys and dressing up clothes this week. The children were so excited that they couldn't wait to put the new toys to good use - with or without batteries!!

Toddler group have also been working on a Springtime theme but, more sensibly, remained inside as they made Spring bonnets and enjoyed free play, music and dance.

With a number of sporting activites going on after school, children are making the most of the options available to them and, eventhough a couple of the course don't appear to have many children signed up, the children already attending club have loved getting involved.  Multisports is proving to be especially enjoyable and it is lovely to see some of the younger children gaining confidence as they develop a number of skills as the weeks progress.  Our most successful sports session continues to be reception/yr 1 football on a Monday where the children battle weekly for ownership of Mr Mill's 'Golden Boot'.  Mr Mills and the children have such a good time that the session is ending later and later each week (sorry about that!) but it is encouraging to see how much fun the children are having.  (For those of you with children signed up for the Monday night session you will notice that a session will be missed due to the Easter bank holiday so this session will be transfered over to next term.)

Along with the planned Springtime activities, junior children had a 'messy' time making playdough from scratch this week which proved to be extremely successful - even if they did attempt to trick me into tasting it!! It is great to see the juniors becoming more independent in the choices of activities that they are doing.  They have come up with some great ideas and staff are working together really well in order to implement them.

With Easter weekend falling a week before our next holiday club, the activities won't be Easter-based this year but instead the theme for the fortnight will be 'Going to the Movies'.  There will be a number of activities inspired by movies such as 'Star Wars', 'Despicable Me', 'Inside Out', 'Paddington', 'Frozen' etc.  Hopefully the variety in activities will mean that there is something to suit everyone alongside the usual free play, painting, sport, ICT, games etc.  There are still a number of places available but make sure you make the most of the lower prices by booking before 24th March. We cannot always guarantee places on the day (we may have to re-direct you to another setting if we are full) so urge you to book as soon as you can,
