10th - 14th October 2016

Date: 14th Oct 2016 @ 11:17am

As we continue with our Autumn theme alongside preparations for the school Harvest celebrations, children on both the infants and juniors have embraced the activities on offer and have created some beautiful foxes, leafy masks, cupcakes, and Canadian Thanksgiving turkeys.  The juniors have also been busy being creative alongside the usual computers, gymnastics and football which the children love.

We started the week by making Thanksgiving turkey's from paper bags, giant googlie eyes and feathers before writing down some of the things we are thankful for.  We will continue with our thankful theme when we celebrate the US version of Thanksgiving next month but, with it being Harvest and Canada Thanksgiving day this week, it seemed appropriate to stop and give the topic of 'Being Thankful' a bit of thought.  Some of the children on the infants and juniors also opted to colour in some Harvest pictures.

Tuesday was one of our most fun after school sessions as the infants dodged the showers to go on an Autumn Scavenger Hunt.  It kept them entertained all the way through to snack time and I was extremely impressed with the number of items the children were able to find including a nest, a mushroom and a scarecrow.  Children were even more impressed that they were able to find a rainbow but sadly that was not listed on the sheet of things to find!

Despite not being able to use the hall on Wednesday, children were able to find plenty to do, the majority decorating cakes with chocolate icing and a selection of sprinkles before finishing off with an orange Autumn inspired cupcake case.  What was even more impressive is that all the children left their cakes until home time although I can't promise that all the cakes made it as far as the main door before being eaten (which meant there was no danger of them getting crumbs in the car!)

Thursday was spent making foxes and leafy masks whilst staff prepared the infant hall for Harvest.

Children should be congratulated for their patience and understanding as staff made some adjustments to the infant hall meaning that we couldn't have all our favourite toys out on Friday morning.  Thankfully the  computer room came in extremely handy and there were no complaints from the children who enjoyed the rare treat of being allowed on the computers before school.

With just two more weeks to go, don't forget to book your child into the half term holiday play scheme.  Further details and a booking form can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
